It is a work that belongs to a series made by the artist but is not defined as an edition.

Description
This work belongs to a series of works that were part of the exhibition under the same title "O Pão Nosso de cada Día", at the Candido Mendes Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro in 1979 and that would later be shown at the Venice Biennale from 1980.

As one of her mediums, during the 1970s, Anna Bella Geiger chose postcards. A modest way, outside the protocols of Fine Arts, but within the wide and daily communication circuits. A perfect vehicle for her own ironic and self-critical vision of herself as an artist and citizen. This collection of postcards arranged in a brown paper bag reflects the Latin American continent and people at the most basic level: hunger. The slices of bread are photographed with the eaten hearts in the shape of maps of Brazil and South America (the cavity also looks a bit like a heart). In one image, the bread basket is empty and the two maps are drawn in ink on the white cloth. The feeling of an emptiness adheres to the images. Originally, these postcards were wrapped in paper bags for bread, configuring metaphors of a continent, a country that was consumed by poverty and exploitation of its resources.
