This is an imagined narrative of daily life in and around Port of Spain and in particular around the area known as the Queen's Park Savannah, previously a plantation. In the early 1900s the area was covered in cocoa trees and sugar plantations but over time it also was the home of race horses. This image shows the stable boy looking on at some horses that are in training while traditional illustrations show two ladies with their market basket. The pink trees are locally known as the pink poui tree which blooms in the dry season in Trinidad.
