Fátima Rodrigo | Available work
Through a language close to post-pictorial abstraction, Fátima Rodrigo analyzes the representation of modernity and gender identity in Latin America and how they influence our desires and interactions. Fátima studies the repeated behaviors that shape conventions, eventually becoming a canon, especially affecting women. Her practice ranges from interactive installations to drawings and textile pieces made with artisanal techniques through which she investigates how this concept of modernity could be understood as an aesthetic, a moment in history and an aspiration.
Fátima is part of the current 22nd Sydney Biennial. Her most recent individual exhibitions include Fiesta en América at the ICPNA Cultural (Lima, 2019); the Glasgow International Festival in 2016; Garúa, Lima, 2015; and the Ricardo Palma Cultural Center, Lima, 2013.
