"ELA FIDALGO I EL ÚLTIMO ABRAZO"

Ela Fidalgo (Palma de Mallorca, 1993) has developed a unique language using fabrics and embroidery mixed with acrylic and waxes. Fidalgo gives shape to emotions that manifest from her universe full of questions about human behavior, beyond the domains of everyday life and thought. It dedicates all its processes to taking care of the individual, their reactions and behaviours.

Her research invites us to consider what it means to be human, in body, soul and essence. Away from academic techniques, figurative art with naive touches predominates in her universe, creating false collages behind which the body is the great protagonist. Embrace imperfection because, for the artist, imperfection demonstrates creativity. The perfect does not grow, it stagnates.

Ela Fidalgo had the honour of being awarded by Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson and Colección Kells for her body of work titled ‘El último abrazo’. A series inspired by reconciliation and embracing oneself:

“Discovering myself has been like unlocking hidden treasures deep within me. Each revelation, each recognition, has been like a bright light shining on my inner path. The enthusiasm for the unknown has pushed me to open doors that I thought were closed before, to explore corners of my soul that I didn’t know existed.”
