// Geometric Abstraction //

Gallery Nosco's NOVA presentation for Art Basel Miami brings together the work of :

Alberto Casari (1955, Peru), Magdalena Fernandez (1964, Venezuela), and Marcelo Moscheta (1976, Brazil), three distinguished Latin American artists whose practices resonate with the theme of Geometric Abstraction in dialogue with nature, drawing and architecture.

This theme connects the precision of abstract form with the organic intricacies of the natural world, inviting reflection on the intersections between constructed geometry, organic patterns/paths and architecture.

Casari’s work often combines indigenous influences with minimalist shapes, exploring cultural memory through geometric forms that evoke pre hispanic constructions with the use of natural material from the Andes. Fernandez, recognized for her video installations, draws upon natural rhythms, translating them into geometric patterns that move or change based on interaction, reflecting her fascination with nature’s dynamic qualities. Moscheta, known for his monochromatic drawings, and detail-driven representations, uses geometry to structure and evoke the essence of untouched landscapes, capturing nature’s raw geometry through minimalist means.

Together, these artists bring forward unique yet complementary visions, enriching the exploration of Geometric Abstraction by highlighting the cultural, kinetic, and environmental dimensions of this approach.

This NOVA presentation offers viewers a multi-faceted journey into how nature and abstraction coexist and inspire contemporary Latin American art.
